What is Mortgage Lenders Insurance?
Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) protects your lender in the event that you default on your home loan and there is a ‘shortfall’. This occurs when the proceeds from the sale of your home are not enough to cover the outstanding amount you owe to your lender.
On January 1st 2020 the Australian Government released the new First Home Loan Deposit Scheme. Where, only 10,000 applicants country wide have access to borrow up to 95% of their home loan without paying mortgage insurance. Needing a 5% deposit, not including the First Home Owners Grant, this offer is strictly limited to 10,000 first home buyers only and available through selected lenders.
